Green Partnership Gets a Major Boost: PIL Executives Present “KOTA EMERALD” Ship Model to BAIC FOTON

On July 9, Mr. Lionel Patrice Chatelet, Chief Commercial Officer of Pacific International Lines (PIL), led a senior delegation to visit the headquarters of BAIC FOTON. The two sides held a formal ceremony to unveil a model of the KOTA EMERALD, a new container vessel, and engaged in in-depth discussions on strengthening their global strategic partnership. The event was attended by Dai Hongkai, Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President of Supply Chain of BAIC FOTON Overseas, Lv Bochao, Director of Logistics of BAIC FOTON Overseas, and Ye Changhua, Sales Director of PIL Logistics Greater China, along with other senior representatives.

A Gift That Symbolizes Green Commitment and Cooperation

At the ceremony, the 1:200 scale “KOTA EMERALD” ship model specially presented by PIL to BAIC FOTON became the focus. The ship is an advanced 14,000 TEU large container ship under PIL, which was successfully delivered and named at Jiangnan Shipyard in October 2024. Dai Hongkai, Party Secretary of the Overseas Business Department of BAIC FOTON and Vice President of Supply Chain, and Mr. Lionel Patrice Chatelet, Chief Commercial Officer of PIL, jointly unveiled the ship model.
This modern ship powered by LNG dual fuel not only demonstrates PIL’s firm commitment to continuously upgrade its green fleet, but also is a vivid symbol of the green logistics concept jointly built by both parties. “It represents our common vision: sustainable, modern and customer-centric,” said Mr. Lionel in his speech, “It symbolizes our achievements and carries the goal of moving forward together in the future.”

Since establishing their strategic partnership, PIL has become a cornerstone in BAIC FOTON’s global supply chain. Today, PIL is BAIC FOTON’s largest partner in container shipping, providing consistent, high-quality services on most of BAIC FOTON’s trade lanes, with annual shipment volume expected to surpass 10,000 TEUs this year.

BAIC FOTON is currently ramping up its ambitious “GREEN 3030” strategy, aiming to sell 300,000 vehicles overseas by 2030—with new energy vehicles accounting for 30% of that volume. Achieving this goal will demand world-class logistics capabilities.
