Connecting the World, Sharing the Future — The BAIC FOTON Overseas Heavy-Duty Truck Supplier Summit Concluded Successfully

On June 10, BAIC FOTON’s Overseas Heavy-Duty Truck Supplier Summit was successfully held under the theme “Connecting the World, Sharing the Future.” Hosted by Guo Tongjin, Vice President of Procurement at BAIC FOTON, the summit brought together global partners to discuss future growth strategies and work toward building a more resilient, collaborative global supply chain—driving Chinese heavy-duty truck brands toward world-class status.

China’s auto industry is undergoing a major transformation, moving rapidly from importing to exporting. In 2024, China maintained its position as the world’s leading vehicle exporter, with commercial vehicles performing particularly well. Against this backdrop—and under the guidance of BAIC FOTON’s “GREEN 3030” strategy—the company’s overseas business achieved impressive results: overseas sales exceeded 153,000 units in 2024; localized production bases in Thailand, Brazil, and South Africa were completed and put into operation; and six new facilities across Europe and South America are now in the pipeline. Looking ahead to 2025, BAIC FOTON is targeting 170,000 units in overseas sales, including 30,000 heavy-duty trucks, signaling its ambition to evolve from a “domestic leader” to a truly “world-class” brand.

Strategy-Driven, Collaboration-Enabled: Winning the Global Market Together

Addressing the new trend of commercial vehicle expansion abroad, Wu Zongtian, Vice President of BAIC FOTON’s Overseas Business Unit, delivered a comprehensive strategic report on global operations. He laid out seven key pillars—product, network, supply chain, quality, service & parts, finance, and aftermarket—and called for deeper collaboration with suppliers. He emphasized the need to tackle current quality issues head-on, uphold a “quality-first” mindset, improve parts and service responsiveness, and increase market competitiveness through cost optimization and efficiency gains.

Building the Backbone: Quality and Delivery as the Twin Pillars of Success

Focusing on core overseas competitiveness, Geng Chao, Vice President of Supply Chain at the Auman Division, presented a roadmap titled “Addressing Quality Issues, Enhancing Delivery Capability, Advancing Overseas Expansion.” He candidly identified key challenges, including component failures and substandard packaging, and urged suppliers to align their systems with overseas market demands. He called for integrated resource planning and collaborative execution to evolve from isolated strengths to system-wide competitiveness—paving the way for high-quality global growth.

Supplier Commitments: Global Expansion and Quality First

At the roundtable, core suppliers showed strong alignment with BAIC FOTON’s strategic vision and a clear willingness to deepen collaboration. They committed to enhancing cooperation, enforcing strict quality control, and continuing to support the company’s global market expansion.

Wang Jianjun, Director of BAIC FOTON’s Quality Management Department, reaffirmed the company’s top priorities for international partners: first, maintain an unwavering commitment to quality and product reliability; second, foster a global R&D mindset responsive to both domestic and international demands; and third, build agile customer support systems and product optimization capabilities. He stressed the need to establish differentiated standards for diverse global environments and develop customized solutions to meet specific market requirements—laying the foundation for a globally coordinated quality and service system.

Win-Win Collaboration: Shaping a World-Class Vision Together

Finally, Cui Shipeng, Vice President of BAIC FOTON and President of the Auman Division, expressed heartfelt gratitude to suppliers for their continued support. He reaffirmed BAIC FOTON’s ambitious “15th Five-Year Plan” goal to produce 1 million vehicles, alongside full-scale transformations in internationalization, electrification, and intelligent technologies—anchored by the GREEN 3030 strategy. He highlighted BAIC FOTON’s successful localization in Thailand, South Africa, and Brazil, and the upcoming Xinghui parts platform to enable coordinated overseas supply chain growth. Cui urged partners to break free from “domestic-only” thinking, accelerate global planning, and align closely with BAIC FOTON’s international trajectory.

Looking ahead to the second half of 2025, he laid out a clear plan to reach the 30,000-unit sales goal for heavy-duty trucks. He called on teams to remain customer-centric and embrace BAIC FOTON’s values of bold innovation, decisive action, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Under the banner of becoming a world-class enterprise, Cui rallied global partners to jointly create a new chapter in high-quality development—bringing BAIC FOTON’s spirit of innovation and world-class quality to customers around the globe.

Targeted Discussions: Tackling Pain Points in the Value Chain

To deepen collaboration and offer practical solutions, BAIC FOTON hosted three breakout sessions in the afternoon, focused on Products/Orders/Quality, Services/Parts, and Vehicle Modification. These targeted discussions addressed specific challenges and enabled suppliers and BAIC FOTON teams to co-develop actionable plans.

This supplier conference was more than just a strategic alignment; it was a declaration of intent. At a time when the global automotive industry is being reshaped, BAIC FOTON—China’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer—is stepping onto the world stage with confidence. By forging a strong, resilient, and collaborative global supply chain alongside its core partners, BAIC FOTON is poised to deliver greater value to customers worldwide.
